RABBIT AND ROBOT: The Sleepover
This easy reader from Candlewick Press comes out in September of 2012!
What’s it about? Four things on a list of things to do, three pizza toppings, two friends, one crazy night!
Here’s a sneak peek…
It’s gonna be a fun one, I think!
Then, coming in Spring of 2013, from Clarion Books (a division of Harcourt Houghton Mifflin), we have…
BUG PATROL, a picture book by Denise Dowling Mortensen. It’s the first picture book I’ve illustrated that was written by somebody else.
What’s it about? Captain Bob is the bug policeman on patrol, reprimanding bugs of all sorts for various crimes and misdemeanors. Hopefully the illustrations will match up to Ms Mortensen’s very fine rhymes.
Here’s a sneak peek…
And finally, CRANKEE DOODLE. Tom Angleberger and I activated our Wonder Twin powers and came up with this book, also from Clarion Books. It comes out in Spring 2013, and asks the following question: What if Yankee Doodle really, really didn’t want to go to town? Sources say that I look just like the pony in the book:
As for Crankee himself, you’ll have to wait a bit to see what he looks like.
AND… I’ve got one other book project that I’m currently working on that might kill me. If it doesn’t kill me, it’s gonna be pretty good stuff!

You have some serious fans up here near DC. I think I have read “Jerry Bee” every night this week. They know the real title but it is as if they know him.
We own every book you have ever written but one.
Wowza wow wow, what a nice note! Thank you so much, onesockon! Which is the one book you don’t have? Thanks again for writing.
The only one we are missing is “Food Friends.”
Food friends… Are you all still in VA? Do you ever come up to do readings at school? If yes, I would love to coordinate something.

Happy book birthday tomorrow, Cece! (Or maybe it’s already today where you guys are). Can’t wait to read it!
Kirby
Thank you VERY much, Kirby! I’ll have a little something about it today. It was a surprise to me! Thought it wasn’t til the 25th that the book would come out. Crazy! Anyway, thanks so much for your kind words!
Bee Wigged is my very favorite children’s book of all time. I read it to my preschool class of busy bees at BUMP on the first and last day of school to remind them that the most important thing we learn is to bee kind. I love all of your books and can’t wait to read the new ones. You inspire me! Love and Laughter, Leslie
Thanks so much, Ms Leslie! I’m so glad that Bee-Wigged is still making the rounds at BUMP. Best to you!
Cece, I loved reading the article about you and Tom in the Roanoke Times today! I want to promote your book launch party with my library classes this week. Hope it’s OK to copy your invitation!? It’s so cute, and so much better than anything I’d put together. (I’d love to attend the party myself, but I’ve already committed to see Giovanni and Raschka at the Lyric that afternoon.) Looking forward to the new books!
Yes, more than ok to copy the invitation! And rats! Giovanni and Raschka got to ya before I could! But they are amazing. I bet that will be a great show. Thanks so much for your support!
