Today’s the day to celebrate the one-and-only Inspector Flytrap and his lovely goat assistant, Nina. Their third book together, The Goat Who Chewed Too Much, is out today!

It actually got a star from Booklist! You can read the review here.
Once again, Tom made me laugh so hard with his wild and crazy words. And once again, he challenged me over and over again by throwing in all kinds of wild and crazy things for me to draw. LOTS of transportation (which I’m not too fond of drawing). LOTS of dogs (which I am very fond of drawing). LOTS of birds, cats, trash, pasta makers, and even a sloth. I thoroughly enjoyed getting around my lack of skill by “cutting corners”—I used a ton of old wood engraving clip art for all the stuff I was too lazy to draw. Those wood engravings are the bomb.
Here’s one of my more cerebral contributions to the new book, a one-page comic. (There are random one-page comics by yours truly in all three of the books.) I had a ton of fun with them. Here ya go:
I think our #1 goal in our lives together is to make each other laugh—and hopefully our readers will think we are as funny as we think we are!

We are dogs!

Congrats to you and Tom! Happy Pub Day!
Thank you, Cousin Cece! Can’t hardly wait to read your newest collaboration! It so amazes me to see your books at my favourite bookstore, yes, WalMart!
Blessings!
Tad
WalMart! Ha ha! I just saw El Deafo there and was amazed that someone could buy that book along with groceries and a wrench and a pair of gloves. Crazy but true!
Thank you so much, Jama! XOXO!!!
Hooray on the starred review on Booklist! Looking forward to it coming into the library.
XOXOXO! Thank you, Jess!
Hurray! We LOVE Inspector Flytrap!
Aw, thank you, Christina! So glad you’ve been enjoying the books. XOXO!
My daughter loves the Inspector Flytrap books and requested they be the theme for her 8th birthday party in April. I couldn’t find any merchandise so I ended up replicating him from felt, wire, and pipe cleaners. The soil in the pot if made from cupcakes.
My daughter made sure to remind me that Nina needs to be pushing him on a skateboard for her actual birthday party.
Hopefully, the photo link works!
